Young Farmers and Ranchers 2015

This last weekend we had the opportunity to travel to Manhattan to learn more about Ben's profession! Growing up around cattle only, left me pretty clueless when it comes to the farming aspect.

Farm Bureau sends young people to the Young Farmers and Ranchers convention each year. Ben and I were lucky enough to be able to attend this year. The convention consisted of key note speakers and 3 breakout mini sessions. The session that was geared more towards me was the Harvest Meals: How To! This year will be the first year I will be able to help Karen, my mother-in-law with harvest meals for the guys!  I learned a lot from how to plan them out to how absolutely wonderful an electric pressure cooker is!! Katie and I were both suckered in and had to make a trip to Bed, Bath & Beyond before heading home to grab one for ourselves!!

Did I mention I won a drawing! Yep, that's me with my awesome herbicide that I won!  This happened right after Ben's name was drawn (he won a bag chair) and I think my exact words were "I never win ANYTHING!"

We got to see Emily, Jeff and Allie while we were there which just put the cherry on the top of another great weekend!

We also found out that I'm absolutely horrible at darts. Let's just say Katie gave me the smack down...twice. But I did get one bulls-eye!

I love what Ben does, all the hardwork he puts into it, and how passionate about everything he is! I'm proud to be a farmers wife!

**Late Post from NY2015 at The Alamo Bowl

Ben and I bleed purple - Kansas State University Wildcat purple. When the opportunity to head down to Texas to cheer on our Cats with family and friends came around we couldn't have been more excited to take it.

So New Years Day, we and the Carothers loaded into the car and were Texas bound! I did fail to mention that the night before Ben came home after chores and said he didn't feel well. I of course thought he was just trying to get out of our NYE plans, turns out I'm a bad wife and was completely wrong. After a pretty bad battle with the 24 hour flu, Ben bravely got in the car for our 10 hour trip!

After a few pit stops and a little snoozing on my part we arrived! Oh, did I mention our hotel was right across the street from The Alamo! So cool. Ben, being the history buff, was quite excited.

And I of course had to get a picture of the Christmas tree in front of The Alamo (I love Christmas!)

So the first night in San Antonio we spent having a fun Mexican food dinner with our great friends and travel partners, followed by a night out on the River Walk (which is as fun as it is beautiful). There we met up with the rest of our crew.

How in the world did this happen?

Did I mention my sister-in-law/best friend /any other labels you would like to give her and brother were part of the crew?

Yes, that is my brother.
Yes, that is a child's shirt.
Yes, I do love him.

Day 2 in San Antonio was game day and there was a lot of purple around town!  We had a fun day planned since the game was in the evening. Katie and I decided we were going to pamper ourselves - so we went to a blow-dry bar! I didn't even know such a thing existed. So we drank some mimosas and had our hair washed, deep conditioned, dried and styled! What a great way to start the day.

We then met the boys to go tour The Alamo. There is so much history that I don't know..I figured out quickly that I should have paid much more attention in history class!

The Tower of the Americas was next on the list. There we met Clay, Samantha, Michael and Ashlin for lunch. They take you up to the tip top and there's restraunt up there which spins around slowly as you eat so you can see the whole city. It was really neat and surprisingly I didn't get motion sick!

Love these ladies.

After all of these activities, we still had time to kill. So our obvious choice was to head back to the river walk!

Finally it was game time!

And maybe the best picture from the day came from my sister back in SWKS who was watching my furbaby!

Dally loves the Wildcats too! Isn't she adorable??

The game ended up not going our way, but being there with great friends made up for the loss!

We gave the river walk one last visit. Good thing we did because we ran into Jerrod Niemann! He and his wife along with some friends came down to support the Cats too! They couldn't have been nicer people.

All-in-all this trip was a complete success and we made many great memories!

**Late Post from 2014!

So since I'm behind on this year already (should have made this decision/resolution at the first of the year like normal people) I wanted to share one part of 2014 that I am really excited about.

In December we took "family photos". Yes, we got photos because we got a furbaby - I warned you that I was obsessed with her. The lovely Katie Mae (spellingthroughit.blogspot.com - again, I'm serious - go follow her blog) was kind enough to put up with one really hyper dog and one not so happy husband. I somewhat sprang the idea on Ben, as in I asked him Sunday morning before church and Katie took us out at 3 pm! Whoops! Sometime he just needs things like this told to him at the last minute.

After enduring somewhat cooler temperatures and a lot of mist, we had some AMAZING pictures. We can't thank Katie enough for capturing these memories for us.

Hello Blog World!

I have recently decided I was in need of a place to share my days, pictures, thoughts and complete randomness of my life!  My friend, Katie (spellingthroughit.blogspot.com) convinced me that it would be a good way to keep everyone posted on our life - (PS follow her blog...lots of cuteness going on there)

So here we go...a little back story on me to begin. I am 25 years old and have been married to a wonderful farmer/rancher - hence Farm Life-, Ben, for 1.5 years now (though it feels much longer since we've been together for almost 7 years! )

(Yes, he's a cutie - and would also kill me for saying that)

So back to getting to know me. I am currently 4 months away from graduating from pharmacy school - hence Pharm wife - and I couldn't be more excited!

We currently only have a furbaby, Dally. She's the best, and you will soon come to find out how obsessed with her I am!
See - I told you she was the best. Don't you worry there will be many, MANY more pictures to come.
