Building Our Home - Week 40

Remember all the lights I forgot?  Thanks to a needed trip to the chiropractor and the help of Katie, we now have ALL the lights purchased for the house (and now need another chiro appointment from looking up at lights all afternoon).  How cute is this chandelier for the bonus room?

Picked out glass for the master bath shower

Spent many hours on these chairs and table I found at a garage sale!  They will be the perfect addition to the bonus room - later post dedicated strictly to these coming soon.

We started packing this week!  Our builder thinks we will be all wrapped up around the 15th, which means I really need to get stuff organized and packed.

It was a MADHOUSE out in the country so far this week!  Went out on Monday to meet with the guys from Fisher Lumber who were setting the counter tops and there were 5 crews there - each with at least 2-4 people.  We had guys laying tile, mason guys finishing up the stone on the fireplace, counter guys, heating and air, and the guys putting in the septic tank!  It was comical watching everyone work around each other, but also exciting to see all that was getting finished up.

This is the kitchen:

One pendant light came with the cord already cut and a bracket missing - NO!!  Luckily we have a replacement on the way that should be here by the end of the week.

This is a flat version of the stone we used on the exterior of the house.

The basement bar!  I'm so in love with this tile back splash and counter top combination!!

As we approach the closing date, I am overwhelmed.  Not a stressed out, overwhelmed because we have to move - but an overwhelmed with what a blessing this house will be for us and our friends and family.  I hope and pray that this house is noisy, filled up, messy and filled with love and laughter more often than not.  We have much to be thankful for and hope that we never lose that feeling.

Building Our Home - Week 39

This week the electrician hung some lights, well the ones I had there....I might have forgotten to order ALL of the flush mount lights and hadn't found the perfect lights for the bonus room yet!  But the ones he did get up are awesome!

Our (my) wine racks went in

We had a visitor who wanted his picture taken in the field

The deck was 3/4 finished!

Flooring started going in as well.  This is the wood-look plank vinyl.  It's gorgeous and so durable!

Psalm 147:3

I saw this yesterday and it couldn't have come at a better time.

Psalm 147:3

"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."
'God wants to turn our pain into purpose and use our lives as proof of His power.' -- YES.

Happy due date, baby C.  This morning I got up with a heavy heart knowing that I was going to work today instead of going to Wichita to meet our perfect little baby.  After a few tears fell as I thought of all the things we wouldn't get to experience with you, I realized something.  You were born into the greatest healer there ever was and ever will be.  You were born into a perfect world surrounded by those we have loved and lost.  How selfish of me to want you here in this very broken world.  We will think about you all the time and celebrate this day for you every year.  Our future children will know the are the lucky ones that have an angel sibling looking over them at all times.

Now - You let Papa play hide and seek with you.  Don't listen to ANYTHING Ty says about your mama (except for the good things).  Play creepy mousy with Grandma Fudge.  Take naps in those great hugs of Grandma Mattingly.  Look at Uncle Gary and know your Papa looks so much like him.  Always go to Aunt Suzi for the best smile to brighten your day.  If you need a laugh, go see Uncle Terry - I will never forget his big laugh.  Drink Dr. Pepper with lemon with Grandpa Niemeir.  When you need to go for a ride, take Sunny and when you need a canine companion call over Otis, Jasper or Cisco.  And know that our hope for heaven has never been greater.

Building Our Home - Week 38

Paint!! These two guys knocked out the entire house with primer and multiple costs of paint in THREE DAYS. Let's just say I was impressed and I'm in love with how the colors turned out. They did ask me if I had three or four colors for the house...well...more like eight! Whoops!! They looked at me and said, "That's a lot of color."  Well, yes, it sure is and all of it is a different color of greige!  It looks so good though!

Rodeo & Family

This weekend, Ben and the boys went to Colorado for Kyle's bachelor party, so all us girls decided to meet in Cimarron for the weekend.  The weekend was spent relaxing, crawling, and Sawyer and Tripp got to experience their first rodeo!  Sawyer loved all the commotion and Tripp just chilled and eventually slept through the last half!

Be still my heart!

Her boots are a little big yet, but how adorable is this?

Distance sucks, but I'm glad I get to see these 4 as often as I do!

This made my heart swell.

Mom is now making me go through all my stuff in my room there at their house...jewelry box was this weekends project.  Found this bracelet my parents got for me when I was a baby.  I think S pulls it off pretty perfectly.

We also helped Papa a little at the golf course.  Notice who's dog had to be held during the picture - yes, that is mine.

Weekend trips to Cimarron always leave us pretty sleepy, but we always leave with full hearts!

**Late Post** - Lake Weekend for Megan's Birthday

The last weekend of July I got to finally spend some time with my second family, the Chapman's.  We all (Chapman's, Emily, and a few other friends) met at the lake house in Rogers and spent the weekend celebrating Megan's birthday and just having a pretty great time.  It was a perfect weekend away, minus me being wimpy and getting a touch motion sick on the water!  I didn't get many pictures (other than dog pictures of course!) but here are a few of the random ones I did get!

Building Our Home - Weeks 35, 36 & 37

The Week 35

The trim guys finished up the pallet wall this week - I'm still obsessing over it!  They also finished up trim work and the staircases!

This is how Ben ends up when we go out to look at the progress together.  I wonder and look at everything and he lays down and rests until I'm finished!

Week 36

The beams are up!  This week they worked on the beams inside and outside the house!  The trim guys finished everything up this week. (I didn't get many pictures from this week - whoops!)

Week 37

Painters are here!  The painters started taping off and staining this week.  They are wonderful and FAST!  For only two men, they get a lot done.  They're working long hours in order to try and get everything wrapped up as quickly as possible!  They finished putting in our garage doors and started on the deck also!  We can't wait to be sitting on that deck with friends and family just enjoying company and the view.
