You Know You Married A Farmer When...

Last week I got home to Ben spraying our yard for weeds..but not like most husbands do. Nope, mine was in a gator driving around with a sprayer on the back!

I of course sent a picture to some friends..who proceeded to ask if he was for hire! So we loaded Dals up and had a pretty great evening with friends.

We ended the night with a bath for Dally. Much to her dismay I foresee more frequent baths in her future once we are out in the country! But they will be oh so worth it, I think she may love it out there even more than I do - that's saying something!

Showered in Blessings

Well it's been a long while since we've seen water standing around here! 2.5" and hopefully more throughout the week! The wheat, farmers (and farm wives) are all so thankful for this huge blessing. Thank you, Lord, for this moisture!

Always an exciting day when the muckboots have to be brought out.

Charlie Turns 1!

Charlie turned one! I enjoyed a great few hours with lots of friends and LOTS of kiddos!  Ben was gone turkey hunting, so I hitched a ride with Carothers.  What a great evening spent visiting with friends and watching the kiddos run around the country playing and laughing! Hope your year number two is just as blessed, Charlie!

Building Our Home - Week 21

This week in the country : more stone was added to the house and siding is getting REALLY close to finishing up. Now the next decision is what color to paint the siding for the back...

On the inside we were wired for the security system and reverse osmosis. This upcoming week should be insulation and if we're lucky some sheet rock! I also ordered some light fixtures!! I'm LOVING them and sad they will be one of the very last things to go in - pictures to come!

Fellowship On The Farm

So, I just realized that I never posted about one pretty amazing weekend I had a few weeks ago.  I was so happy to have been asked (or told, not really sure which way it happened) to help with Fellowship on the Farm.  Caitlin ( http://www.faithfarmingandfamily.com ) had some pretty big ideas for this weekend months ago.  Through some constant pushing from God and Katie (http://spellingthroughit.blogspot.com) she made it a reality.  Caitlin and Katie got Jana on board and over a few months these these three women made an incredible weekend happen through lots of planning, hard work, and prayer.

We stayed in what I believe may be the brightest and most gorgeous house EVER.  The Craft House in Newton was the perfect place to hold this weekend.  This house was very intimate with some pretty gorgeous decor and set the backdrop to the weekend better than I could have imagined.

Throughout the weekend we listened to fellow farm wives give presentations on everything from time management, how to get more involved on the farm, to being a woman in a "man's world", and many, many more.  Between listening to speakers and enjoying some pretty great meals, we spent time relaxing and just getting to know one another.  It was so obvious that God's hand was in sending every one of the ladies to us that weekend.

 How great are these?

Did I mention good food and CUPCAKES?

One of my favorite parts of the weekend was how uplifting and positive it was.  It really did refresh my heart and soul.  Farm life is HARD and the hours are hard, etc.  This weekend could have very easily turned into a "bash the farm" "bash ..." but it never did and I was so thankful for that.  Do we all have struggles? ABSOLUTELY.  Did we talk about those struggles? Yes, we did, but it was always something positive.  Instead of just complaints, it was questions like "how do you handle something like ..." and "this is what I most struggle with, anyone else have this struggle" and we helped each other by discussing what works for us and maybe how they could work this or that into their routine to make things a little easier.  I also loved how many different perspectives we ended up having.  We had so many different roles of "farm wife" and that alone was a huge blessing because no two farm wives are the same and it takes all kinds to keep farms going.

Have I ever mentioned how much I love crafting?  Well I got to share that with these ladies!  We took some old belts and made some pretty awesome bracelets.  You should see some of the ones they came up with, I was impressed!  If you haven't already you should search Instagram photos with the hashtag #fellowshiponthefarm and look at all the gorgeousness that happened that weekend.  My pictures don't even do it all justice.

God showed up in big ways this weekend.  I am hoping and praying that each and every time this event happens that He will show up in every way possible just like he did this weekend.  I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to help out with such an amazing event and also extremely grateful to have some pretty amazing friends who follow what God has planned for them.  Living life with these ladies has been a game changer for me and I will be forever grateful for their friendships.

For even more pictures to illustrate how amazing this weekend was go to Instagram like I said earlier and search #fellowshiponthefarm .

Building Our Home - Weeks 19 & 20

Out in the country, the exterior of the house is getting finished up and electrical work is wrapping up as well.  Not too many pictures, because really who wants to look at a bunch of pictures of the new wiring that is going up (you know, people other than me)?  So here are a few from the last few weeks!

Week 19

Week 20

Sunday was GORGEOUS.  Ben, Dally and I spent a lot of time around the house.  I can't wait for this to be our front/side/back yard in the near future.  Dally sure loves playing frisbee in the wheat field next to the house (when the cattle are far enough in the field to not interfere).  We also explored around the pond area for a bit.  I have some pretty big ideas for the pond area - Ben isn't on the same page, so stay tuned to see what we can work out! ;)

How in the world is it already time for the wheat to be heading out??  Wasn't it just Christmas?  Harvest will be here before we know it!

Saw this quote the other day and thought it was pretty perfect - thinking I need to find a place for it in our new home.

"May this home be firmly built upon Faith, held humbly together by Hope, and ever lit by the light of GOD'S LOVE"

Walks and Crop Tours

When your husband suggests going on a walk in the country with you and your dog - you should know that it will also include a crop tour and checking fence. But hey, the scenery and company are both pretty great, so why not?
